You all know the classic Rock and Roll Part Two, right?
Nah-nah-nah, HEY!
They play it at damn near every sporting event after a score or big play.
"Well, it's traditional, right?"
Wrong. So wrong. So very wrong.
The song was written by one Gary Glitter in the late 70's, and proved a minor hit.
But there is something y'all overlook.
Public performance rights.
BMI and ASCAP ensure that authors get PAID every time their song gets played on the radio, in a club, or in a sporting arena.
That's very fair to the author.
So every time the stadium rocks to "We Will Rock You", the guys from Queen get a few pennies.
And every time they play "Rock and Roll Part Two", Gary Glitter gets a few cents as well.
There's only one problem there.
He's a convicted child molestor.
He does NOT deserve the money.
He deserves to rot in hell, but we will have to settle for him rotting in a Vietnamese prison.
Is there any reason we continue to make him wealthy?

Last night, I attended my first ever game at the Stockton Arena.
The hometown Thunder lost a close one 4-2, but after each of their goals, some other piece of music played.
I have no idea what it was, but it sounded energetic, and got the crowd going.
I'll bet the composer isn't a convicted child molestor.
How refreshing.
No "Rock and Roll Part Two" anywhere in the arena.
No money for convicted sex perverts.
I can go for that.
I'll also happily attend more Thunder games.
Why don't you call your local hockey, basketball, baseball, etc. team and tell them you don't want their fan support going to enrich a criminal who ruined children's lives?
It's good karma.
